Why I Love Mondays

Kieran Flanagan is the Marketing Director for Hubspot in Europe. He joined the company on January 7th 2013.

Company: HubSpot all-in-one marketing software helps more than 8,000 companies in 56 countries attract leads and convert them into customers. A pioneer in inbound marketing, HubSpot aims to help its customers make marketing that people actually love.
Job description: I am the Marketing Director for Hubspot in Europe. I lead a team of amazing marketers who are helping to change the way people view marketing.
Likes: I’ve been a massive fan of inbound marketing, ever since I first read the inbound marketing book from Dharmesh and Brian. It’s amazing that I am now part of the company they lead. What I love about Hubspot is the culture. We’ve created a Culture Code that explains how Hubspot aim to create a company people love. It’s incredible to be surronded by so many smart marketers with both the passion and drive to change the way marketing is done. I love having the opportunity to speak with companies about their success with inbound marketing, share any knowledge I have that can help them and work with a team who teach me new things every day.
Career ladder: I graduated from the University of Ulster with an honours degree in Computing Science. I am a geek at heart, but never really enjoyed the roles I had in I.T. They didn’t give anything to my creative side. Once I found marketing, I became obsessed. I got my first start with Cybercom, who took a chance on someone with no prior marketing experience, and is something I have always been grateful for. After that role, I took a role with Salesforce, which was a great experience. I got to work on big projects, like launching their SocialSuccess, which is now available in countries throughout Europe. I got a heap of experience in Salesforce on how to create inbound marketing for a European audience. One piece of advice I would give to people who want to progress in marketing is to have side projects. At one point I owned over 30 sites of my own. It didn’t leave much time for a personal life, but really helped me expand my own knowledge.
Qualifications: I graduated from the University of Ulster with a 2.1 (hons) Degree in Computing Science. I was 2% of a 1st, which still frustrates me to this day !!!
Working hours: I honestly don’t have typical working hours. I never want to work a typical 9-5 job, it wouldn’t be something I would enjoy. I love what I do, so I don’t really keep tabs on what hours I work.
Breaktime:  Table Tennis, slowly been getting better
Social media credentials: I use Twitter the most (@searchbrat), I use LinkedIn like most people do, to connect with professional people. I use Facebook to stay in contact with friends, I really don’t connect with strangers on Facebook and constantly unfriend people to try keep my feed pretty clean.
News sources: I use Inbound.org a lot
Onsite or offsite: Yes, I travel a lot to speak at conferences. It’s part of the job I really LOVE
Digital strategy/vision: Every part of our strategy involves digital
I love Mondays because: Because it’s another week of working hard to crush our targets !!
