Accenture Mobile Web Watch 2012

Accenture have released their Mobile Web Watch 2012 annual study, and the results show the Irish leading the migration to mobile devices to access web services.

The study shows that the Irish are using multiple platforms to access the web, with Smartphones being the most common at 69 per cent, while notebooks are being used by 37 per cent and tablets by 28 per cent.

We ranked alongside Brazil and South Africa. In what seems like a stark reversal of the usual indices, the losers are Germany, France and Finland – these three countries scored the lowest migration.

Before we celebrate, though, this might in fact not be such positive news – it should be pointed out that these three countries have exemplary fibre connectivity, while we tend to rely on 3G and wireless.

Naturally enough, Irish Mobile internet use is greatest with the younger demographics, with the highest use in the age 14 – 29 group at 84 per cent; while the amount of people over the age of 50 who use Mobile to access the internet stands at 60 per cent.

There are many other interesting insights in this study, and it can be accessed here
