Yesterday, Apples troubles just went far away…..
Steve Jobs from Apple didn’t like the idea of rumbling with The Beatles; in fact he is a true fan, having grown up on tracks like “All You Need is Loveâ€, “Paperback Writer†and “Michelleâ€.
‘Twas so many moons ago when George Harrison got miffed about a pipsqueak company that had started trading under the Apple name: battle lines where drawn – the music industry against the emerging technology industry.
What George Harrison didn’t realize was that this small company would one day become an industry giant with hugely innovative products like the IPOD which would go on to dominate the music market.
Well now, finally, a deal has been done: The Apple trademark will be owned by Jobs, who will license it back to the record label. And the situation whereby Beatles fans could not buy a single Beatles track on itunes could now be resovled – it was notable that the intro track for the recent Apple seminar in San franciso just happened to be a Beatles track.
You get the feelings that Steve’s “all you need is love†attitude towards his rivals will mean that The Beatles will have a significant presence on itunes in 2007 and onwards, meaning many songs returning to the number one slot, and all the more revenue for Ringo and Macca (And maybe even Heather).
