  • New Twitter London hires raise question marks

Has Ireland lost the battle for Twitter to locate its European headquarters here?
The social networking site has started to advertise for positions in the UK, saying it plans to open offices in London this year.
The advertisements have been posted on Twitter.com after months of speculation about whether Twitter would open its European HQ in London or Dublin.

A campaign has been underway by @birdcourter on Twitter to get Twitter to come to Ireland. People can register their support on Facebook (click attend on event but no real life attendance required). Our own IDA executives have been reported to have met with Twitter management on a number of occasions.
While Twitter is advertising for jobs in London, all may not be lost for Dublin, however. It was originally thought – and speculated about in Forbes and The Guardian – that Twitter would be attracted by Ireland’s low corporation tax rate.
