Jobs are coming to Ireland in their hundreds, especially in the areas of technology and the internet. The IDA has been busy bringing in companies, so here’s the lowdown on some of the big announcements.

50 jobs in sales, marketing, engineering, inventory and customer support are to be created in Dublin over the next two years in an internet security firm, Webroot, which is to establish its international headquarters in Dublin.
Webroot develops internet security solutions for consumers and businesses and protects corporate networks from online and internal threats and allows consumers to download music, store digital files, bank, shop and search safely. Webroot is a technological leader in the emerging and exciting area of cloud computing which is a strategic focus for IDA Ireland and is a priority for development and support.
SAP/Business Objects, the world’s leading provider of business software is recruiting 75 staff in Dublin, bringing its employment figures to over 1,000. Some of the 75 jobs will be in functions that are new to SAP in Ireland including the building out of the company’s Telesales eCentre and in technical support functions. Current activities in Ireland include the provision of Services and Support for its customer base in EMEA and the US and a software development lab in Dublin which develops next generation business analytics software.
O2’s parent company, Telefónica is to establish a European People Services Centre in Dublin, creating 100 new high-skilled positions by the end of 2012. The centre will be a key part of the new Telefónica Europe HR structure being implemented in 2010 and represents a €25 million investment over five years. It will consist of one pan-European team, delivering a distinct employee experience to each of the 27,900 employees that work for Telefónica Europe.
