  • Affordable networking, learning and sharing events on horizon

People in a broad variety of businesses In Ireland are to get the opportunity to share their business war stories and learn from others at two upcoming events.
The third Bizcamp Dublin takes place this coming Saturday (May 29, 2010) when up to 500 entrepreneurs will gather in the Guinness Storehouse for a day of networking, learning and sharing.

On Saturday June 12, the first Bizcamp SouthEast is to take place, based in the Arclabs Research & Innovation Centre in Waterford, it follows the model set by Bizcamp Dublin and Bizcamp Limerick which was held at the beginning of May.
Kindly sponsored by Microsoft, Mason, Hayes + Curran, IBM, and Enterprise Ireland, Bizcamp Dublin is the largest event of its kind in Ireland – where those registered to attend the one-day conference also register to be its keynote speakers.
Attendees will spend the day attending ‘lectures’ given by their peers on starting, managing and promoting a business. Registration fee for the event is just €5 because there really is no such thing as a free lunch!
Bizcamp Dublin is run voluntarily by a team of Irish entrepreneurs. Looking ahead to Saturday’s event, one such organiser, Alan O’Rourke of Spoiltchild Design and Toddle.com said: “Saturday’s Bizcamp Dublin is shaping up to be another brilliant event. We already have hundreds registered to attend and share their business war stories but with a huge venue like the Guinness Storehouse there’s room for plenty more!”
The theme for this latest Bizcamp Dublin is ‘Young Entrepreneurs’ and will feature a panel discussion of young Irish business people who are sailing through the recession instead of giving out about it.
“This time around we want to give special recognition to young entrepreneurs” he added. “Our panel discussion will feature some of our successful young business people and we’re hoping the discussion will encourage others to take the leap and go it alone.”
One of the organisers of Bizcamp SouthEast, Peter Grogan of Emagine Media explains speakers will give a short 20-minute presentation, with 10 minutes for discussion, on a topic of their choice. He says Bizcamp SouthEast would like to hear from people in the south east of Ireland who would like to present a short talk.
“The event is deliberately not about sales pitches, we want to hear about skill sets you wish to share, to lessons learned, to experiences gained within your business. Bizcamp is not necessarily a ‘techy’ event and topics will vary from starting your own business, to marketing, design, finance, web and social networking and stress management.”
